Tired-looking or aged appearance.

Procedure

A special technique incorporating a minimal incision facelift which corrects the the sagging skin and wrinkles and structured fat grafting which helps to smooth out folds and restore a more youthful look. A new concept of actually adjusting the proportions of the face to restore it to a more youthful look.
Two choices for anesthesia: 1) IV sedation with a localized anesthetic which makes them groggy and unable to feel any pain or 2) general anesthesia which puts them to sleep completely. The final choice depends upon the patient health history and how extensive the procedure. In either case, a certified anesthetist monitors them.
Minimal incisions are achieved using an Omega incision-a modified incision resembling the inverted Greek letter Omega is placed around the ear with no disruption of the hairline at the temple or the back of the neck as required for a standard facelift. It is not necessary to shave hair for this incision.
Facial skin is separated from the fat and muscle underneath and then pulled up and backward in the temple and ear areas. The excess is removed. Sagging muscles and connective tissue are tightened.
A patient's own fat is usually harvested from the chosen area of the abdomen, processed, and then injected into the facial area using a special technique. The fat is carefully injected in microscopic tunnels building up to the desired volume. By using small amounts, the fat cells "take" as normal tissue unlike prior techniques that didn't work.

Recovery
There will be minimal post-operative pain that is controlled by prescription medication.
Minimal swelling and discoloration will subside within one to two weeks.
Full activity may be resumed two to three weeks following surgery.
Presurgical skin care treatment and post-surgical cosmetic makeover are provided by on-staff aesthetician.

Intended Result
Restore natural contour and facial definition.
A natural, well-rested, and youthful appearance.
Major improvement is apparent in the first two to three weeks with continued improvement and "smoothing out" of the patient's appearance over six to nine months.

Frequently Asked Questions
Q.
Is fat implantation permanent?
A.
With fat grafting, a patient's own fat is usually harvested from the abdomen, processed, and then injected into the facial area using a special technique. The fat is carefully injected in microscopic tunnels building up to the desired volume. By using small amounts, the fat cells "take" as normal tissue unlike prior techniques that didn't work.

Q.
How long does a facelift last?
A.
Actually, it depends upon the individual; each person is sagging and aging at a different rate. A facelift result generally rolls back the clock five to 10 years.

Q.
I've been told by both surgeons and friends that I could benefit from a facelift. Here is the problem: I do want to improve parts of my face but I want to look more natural and almost have less of a "complete" facelift look. Also, I don't like those fine scars in the hairline because I pull my hair up and back all the time. Is there any innovative way to treat a sagging neck, slight jowls, smile lines and a few fine lines around my eyes without a full facelift? I want surgery without the surgery.
A.
Yes, there are several innovative ways to address your facial concerns, but I can't promise "surgery without surgery." A minimal incision facelift can treat your sagging neck and those slight jowls without requiring an incision extending into the hairline. Called an Omega incision, this modified incision resembles the inverted Greek letter Omega and is placed around the ear with no disruption of the hairline at the temple or the back of the neck as required for a standard facelift. Smile lines, called "nasolabial folds," many deep facial wrinkles and even lips can now be treated with fat grafting. This technique is the most natural way to improve deep lines instead of using collagen or artificial materials . A patient's own fat is harvested from any chosen area of the body, centrifuged, processed and then injected into the facial area using 1-cc syringes. Its a whole new concept of actually adjusting the proportions of the face to restore it to a more youthful look. Finally, your fine lines around the eyes might best be treated with laser resurfacing using the Derma-K laser.

Q.
What is the age limit for a facelift?
A.
It doesn't depend upon age but health. A healthy individual can have a facelift well into their eighties.
